Experimental Laboratory for Economics and Business Research

About

The VCU Experimental Laboratory for Economics and Business Research opened in 1986. It was one of the first laboratories dedicated to computer-mediated experiments in economics and the first in the United States to use a PC-based network.

Currently seven VCU faculty are associated with the laboratory.  Research in the Laboratory have been funded by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, as well as by Virginia Commonwealth University.

The lab consists of 32 networked machines, with a temporally expandable capacity to 96 machines. Portable isolators are used to ensure the privacy of participant decisions.  The Laboratory is available to faculty and graduate students at Virginia Commonwealth University who wish to use laboratory methods in their research. IRB approval must be obtained prior to conducting research.
